Black pepper from South India is world famous. A highly profitable crop with return on investment is more than three times. Pepper can be cultivated as intercrop with most of the other crops like Tea, Coffee, Coconut, Arecanut, Cashew etc. Return starts from 4th year and will continue to 30-35 years. Opportunity on value addition of pepper (White pepper, Red pepper, Pepper powder etc) improves profitability.
Fruit Plants
Demand for pesticide free fruits are going up. At present most of the fruits and vegetables are coming from outside of the state and is having high content of pesticides. Cultivation is being practiced without following the good agricultural practices and safe harvest interval. As such contains poisonous chemicals. To give healthy, poison free, food to our next generation we need to cultivate fruits and vegetables in our own land. A number of crops can be cultivated in our land.
Multicrop cultivation
